as a child, i got onto my grandparents' nerves by hammering on their piano, producing disharmonic sounds, so they finally sent me to some piano lessons at the age of seven, which i took for eleven long years - from children's songs through classical and modern to jazz music. as a teenager, i tought myself to play the guitar (the first song i could roughly play was terry jacks' "seasons in the sun") and founded the four-piece punk band "deadlock", whose style soon turned into some sort of post-punk alternative. deadlock never got too successful.
as an adult, i didn't do any music for a while, except for two soundtracks for multi-media projects "die galerie" and "mariannes träume", both somewhere between industrial and trance. neither of both projects got too successful. in 2006, i decided to start doing some music again, on my own, using the pseudonym "toothpick fish". so here i am, more than 20 years later, producing disharmonic sounds again. some things never change. a lot more of information about "the man behind the fish" can be found at heiko's home page (in german). |
toothpick fish is a one man band, and this is the man: born in '77, given the name "heiko".
